    • GM Howie Roseman said Monday that...

GM Howie Roseman said Monday that he wants to sign Wentz (back) to an extension, Eliot Shorr-Parks of Sports Radio 94 WIP Philadelphia reports. "We have to be realistic about the fact that we have a quarterback we want to pay and we want to extend long term," Roseman relayed. "We want to have a team led by a franchise type of quarterback. We know that we have that in Carson."

Analysis: Since the Eagles selected Wentz second overall in the 2016 draft, he became the face of the franchise, but his situation has a few things to sort out before putting pen to paper on a long-term deal. First and foremost, the team no doubt will exercise the fifth-year option on his rookie contract by May 2. Beyond that, Wentz has been going through rehabilitation after missing the final three regular-season games and subsequent playoff run due to a fractured back vertebra. Roseman wouldn't touch on Wentz's health, citing "HIPPA laws." However, Roseman added, "We are incredibly optimistic about where we are in that area [with injured players]." Once Wentz's health is revived, he won't have the specter of Nick Foles breathing down his neck and thus will be able to focus on leading the Eagles offense yet again.

Lawrence has yet to undergo shoulder surgery, David Moore of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Analysis: Seemingly using his health as a bargaining chip in contract negotiations, Lawrence is delaying the inevitable until he and the Cowboys come to terms in a long-term deal. The team used the franchise tag on him for a second straight year, which will equate to $20.6 million in 2019 but no money beyond this coming season. Despite tending to shoulder injuries multiple times in his five-year career, he racked up a combined 25 sacks while playing every contest in 2017 and 2018. With such production, it's no surprise the potential earnings at stake as well as the paths taken by both sides.

    • Perry will take a free-agent visit...

Perry will take a free-agent visit to Seattle some time this week, Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reports.

Analysis: Perry had spent the past seven seasons in Green Bay but was cut this offseason by the team to make room for other acquisitions. The USC product has has never played a full 16-game season in his career but seems to be fully healthy this offseason. The Seahawks could add Perry to their linebacker corps, as the team awaits the fate of Mychal Kendricks (lower leg), who could face jail time after pleading guilty to insider trading.

    • Griffin will compete for Tampa Bay's...

Griffin will compete for Tampa Bay's backup quarterback role after the team signed fellow quarterback Blaine Gabbert on Monday, Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Analysis: Griffin served as Tampa's third quarterback for the vast majority of the 2018 campaign, eventually bumping ahead of Ryan Fitzpatrick for the No. 2 spot over the final two weeks. Given that Griffin hasn't attempted a pass in a regular-season game, Gabbert certainly will push him for the backup job.

    • Kendricks (lower leg) had his April...

Kendricks (lower leg) had his April 4 sentencing hearing postponed Monday without setting a date for the future, Andy Patton of USA Today reports.

Analysis: Kendricks pleaded guilty to insider trading and will await his fate until further notice. The California product re-signed with the Seahawks this offseason on a one-year, $4 million contract. Kendricks could certainly miss the 2019 season due to jail time, and the team prepared for that, making his contract non-guaranteed. Kendricks likely would be in line for a rotational role in the Seahawks' linebacker corps, if eligible to play.
